ESTHER BRITTIJN

I am Esther, I grew up in "het Gooi", and have lived in Almere Hout since 2016. Married to Paul, whom I have known since my childhood. Together we have two children, a son and a daughter who have now left the parental home.

Ever since I was a child, I felt a fascination for the world around me. During Sunday walks with my parents and sister, I always fell behind the rest because there was so much to discover, beautiful pebbles, flowers, moss or shells...
I have always remained a bit of a dreamer.

Creativity runs like a common thread through my life. Whether it concerns designing the garden, styling for our interior, or being busy with fashion, I enjoy it all.

After completing my education at the Fashion Academy Bijenveld in Amsterdam, I worked at various fashion companies for years. There I worked both in purchasing and sales, but also as a designer and stylist.

Ever since I was a child, I felt a fascination for the world around me.

The idea of making my own art grew.

In 2017, the idea of doing "something" with art slowly emerged. To start with, I wanted to make something myself for my home wall. Immediately, I bought a number of large canvases with the thought, "I will fix that". That turned out to be a disappointment, but the idea of making my own art grew.

As both our children had bought their own homes in 2022, things fell into place. I started having more time and space for myself. A nice side effect of the renovations in their new homes was that I saw many opportunities in the packaging materials coming from all the furniture, home decorations, tableware, etc. I started using these materials (unrecognizable) in my art.

A special mix of different raw materials mixed with stucco mix forms the base of all my artworks. Mainly in earthy tones with a touch of gold here and there. The colors, contours and textures that nature has to offer are the essence of my works.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my art world. I hope my works touch and inspire you, just as nature and everyday life inspire me.
